Call for Poems

'I can't figure out if you're a detective or a pervert.'

Seeking poems that explore the twisted world of David Lynch's Blue Velvet for The Private Press's next chapbook anthology.

Guidelines

• We are happy to consider either original or reprinted work. If you are sending in previously published work for consideration, you must own the anthology rights. Please send full publication details with your contribution.
• If your poem is written in another language, the English translation must be included [both poems count as one].
• Maximum of three (3) poems. While there is no line limit, long poems must be exceptional to be accepted.
• You are welcome to add a brief note to accompany your poems, including short statements of previous publication. However, this is not essential.
• Please include a contact email address that will still be current in 2009.
• The editor's decision is final.

To find out the kind of poems the editor likes, you can either listen to the audio poems from We Don't Stop Here and A Slice of Cherry Pie, or you can buy your copies of these chapbooks from The Private Press store.

Contributors published in the anthology receive a copy of the chapbook as payment. Contributors are also entitled to purchase additional copies for a significant discount [plus postage], while stocks last. Profits go towards future chapbook publications.

Your poems

For the next call for poems, you are invited to send The Private Press up to three (3) poems responding to a David Lynch work, yet to be specified.

For translations, the original and the English version count as one. PLEASE NOTE: if you send more than three (3) poems, your contribution will be disregarded. No exceptions.

You will receive notification once we receive your work. If your poem is accepted, you will be asked to view a proof of your work for approval via email, prior to publication.

We require anthology rights for publication in the UK. Rights revert to the author upon publication.

Chapbook timeline

Deadline: 28 February 2009. To be announced.
Notification: May 2009.
Chapbook launch: Summer/Autumn 2009.
